How to shop with humm

The process differs slightly online and in store. This layout keeps the two journeys clear rather than mixing them together.

Shopping online

Use humm through the Redmond Electric checkout when it is shown as an available payment method.

  1. Apply or log in Complete humm’s application process or log in to an existing account.
  2. Add products and check out Add your chosen items to the Redmond Electric basket and proceed to checkout.
  3. Select humm and complete You will be directed through humm’s purchase process to review and complete the transaction.

Online purchases: humm states that part payment is not currently available online, so the approved amount must cover the full humm transaction.

Shopping in store

Choose your products in Redmond Electric and tell the sales assistant that you would like to pay using humm.

  1. Have an approval or apply Have your mobile available. If you are not already approved, apply before completing the purchase.
  2. Choose your items Select the products you want and let the Redmond Electric team know you wish to use humm.
  3. Complete with the team The sales assistant will help you complete humm’s in-store purchase process.

In-store purchases: humm states that approved customers may use humm for part of the cost and pay the remaining balance by cash or card.

To be eligible, humm currently says an applicant must meet all of the criteria shown here. Meeting them does not guarantee approval; applications remain subject to assessment.

humm may request identification, proof of income, PPS verification, bank statements and proof of address during the application.

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be an Irish citizen or permanent resident of Ireland
  • Provide proof of PPS number and address
  • Earn minimum taxable income of €1,500 per month
  • Have a current credit or debit card and photo ID
  • Have a good credit history

What is humm?

humm describes itself as a retail instalment payment plan facility: an alternative to paying the full purchase price by cash or card at the time of purchase. Plans differ between retail partners.

Are all humm plans interest free?

Do not assume that every plan is interest free. humm states that interest, application fees and monthly account-keeping fees may apply, depending on the credit plan selected. Plan availability also varies between retailers.

Can I use humm online at Redmond Electric?

Yes. Redmond Electric is listed by humm as supporting online and in-store purchases. Online, select humm at checkout when it is available and follow the purchase process.

Can I part pay online?

humm states that online part payment is not currently available. Your approved amount must therefore be sufficient to complete the full online humm transaction.

Can I part pay in store?

humm states that in store you may use humm for part of the purchase and pay the remaining balance by cash or card, subject to the retailer’s checkout process and your available approval.

What documents may be required?

humm may ask for:

  • A passport, Irish driving licence or another accepted photo ID
  • A recent payslip or other accepted proof of income
  • Documentation verifying your PPS number
  • Recent bank statements showing at least 35 days of transactions
  • Proof of address where required
Can I repay my agreement early?

humm says you may fully repay an agreement early without an additional early-repayment fee or charge. The balance required to close the agreement is shown in the customer portal.

Does meeting the eligibility criteria guarantee approval?

No. humm must assess the completed application before deciding whether to approve finance and, if approved, the amount available.
